In September, 2009 I joined the faculty at the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music as a lecturer in the newly-formed department of Jazz, teaching ear-training and improvisational concepts and techniques.

Since 2003, I have been teaching jazz harmony and theory in the Contemporary Rhythmic Music Department of the Riga Cathedral Choir School.
I have taught masterclasses in improvisation in several countries.
While in Toronto, I participated in several special projects in music education, including projects for the Canadian Opera, the National Ballet, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and an internet-based composition project called Composers in Electronic Residence.

At the Music Gallery in Toronto, I created DOmusic - a series of participatory workshops for musicians of any level of ability. Teaching music, I always emphasize communication, group dynamics, and the close relations between artforms.
